Bringing a Global Teacher Education Model to Scandinavia: Examining Teach First in Norway

Abstract Teach For All (TFAll) represents a unique private–public partnership model of fast-track teacher education. This chapter explores TFAll’s expansion to the Scandinavian countries and uses First Norway (TFN) as context for examining this employment-based route into teaching, focusing on individual participant perspectives. Contemporary career choices can be understood fluid negotiable, which has implications design programmes that aim effectively recruit competent professionals. Traditionally, research motivation choosing teaching profession been based assumption people will commit long-term career. The relevance analysis may decreasing, many seem consider pursue range possibilities. study used multi-method approach examine TFN participants’ initial motivations entering programme development their professional identities throughout. findings show participating are complex, is perceived by an opportunity self-development resume-building. Participation in TFAll might viewed part project candidates given ‘try out’ teaching.
